
| A shift in the way shared services are viewed has occurred in recent years, with the Scottish Government website stating that: “The public sector in Scotland has an efficiency agenda, rather than a cuts agenda, and can share services in order to drive out inefficient practice and reinvest in front line services that have the greatest impact on citizens” |
A recent survey of UK civil servants revealed a perception that departmental budgets can only be reduced by an average of 11% without affecting services. Given that significantly larger savings will be expected of most departments and organisations, greater innovation and cross-sector collaboration will be required.
